WASHINGTON (February 28, 2018) – Howard University Softball team was swept in its midweek doubleheader against crosstown foe George Washington (GW). In game one, the Bison fell in six, 8-0, followed by a 16-0 decision in favor of the Colonials.
GW limited the Bison to only three hits in game one. Senior
Brooklyn Emory and freshmen
Trinity Gibbs and
Breanna Robinson each recorded a hit in the loss.
After taking an early 1-0 advantage, George Washington took control by scoring three runs in the third and fourth, 7-0. GW added a run in the sixth to enforce the eight-run mercy rule, 8-0.
In the nightcap, George Washington's Kaitlin Buff and Ashley Pilcher combined for a no-hitter while manufacturing 16 runs, including 12 in the second.
On March 2-4, Howard remain in D.C. for the District Classic, hosted by Georgetown at the Nationals Youth Academy.
