WASHINGTON (April 17, 2018) – After slipping by rival Delaware State, Coach Larry Strickland and the Howard University Women's Tennis team cruised to victory as they downed Maryland Eastern Shore, 7-0, at the Banneker Recreation Center.
 
With the win, HU clinched a spot in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament in Norfolk, Va. Howard finished league play 4-2 overall.
 
HU took the early advantage winning all three doubles matches.
 
In singles competition, all five Bison won in straight sets.
 
Junior Kindha Nasef picked up her fifth straight victory against Maryland Eastern Shore's Kenza Katema (6-2, 6-0).
 
Freshmen Nathalie Finch and Yassmine Khiri each won their seventh singles match of the year while junior Nicole Hutchison improved to 8-5 (4-2 MEAC) after knocking off the Hawks' Alese Brown (6-0, 6-0).
 
Senior Sajela Harlow earned her first victory of the year in singles play, defeating Eastern Shore's Melanie Copey (6-0, 6-0).
 
Howard ends the regular season versus George Mason on Senior Day (April 22). Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the Banneker Recreation Center.
