FAIRFAX, Va. (April 14, 2018) – Coach 
David Oliver and the Howard University Men's Track & Field team took ninth at the Mason Invitational, hosted by George Mason University, after posting 34 points overall.
 
HU saw nine Top 10 performances in Fairfax, Va.
 
Juniors 
Kenneth Chigbue and 
Korey Lombard led the way, scoring eight points apiece.
 
Chigbue earn his share in the men's 200-meter race where he finished runner-up with a 21.52 time while clinching a spot at the IC4A/ECAC Championships in May.
 
Lombard also competed in the 200-meter and landed sixth overall (21.80). The California product finished fifth in the men's 100-meter after clocking in at 10.90. Both performances earned him slot at the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
 
Chigbue and Lombard, alongside senior 
Alexander Prewatt and newcomer 
Mekhi Closson, ran the men's 4x100 relay and placed fifth with a 42.15 mark.
 
Closson also took part in the 400-meter where he secured a spot at the IC4A/ECAC Championships with an eighth-place finish (48.58).
 
Senior 
Landrie Hatcher had two Top 10 finishes: 110 hurdles and triple jump.
 
In the hurdles, the Maryland product turned in a 15.63 performance, which was good for sixth overall.
 
In the field, Closson took sixth after leaping 13.26 meters (43'6").
 
Freshman 
Steven Imes IV also participated in the men's 110 hurdles where he finished two spots behind Hatcher after recording a 15.86 mark.
 
Hatcher and Imes, along with freshmen 
Nathaniel Are and 
Jordan Holder, ran the men's 4x400 relay and placed sixth overall.
