GREENSBORO, N.C. (February 18, 2018) – Coach
Lauren McCoy and the Howard University Softball team kept their momentum going as they took down North Carolina A&T State (NCAT), 11-4, at the Aggie Invitational. HU wrapped up the weekend with a 2-2 mark.
After Howard (2-6) produced 17 runs against Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday (Feb. 17), the Bison exploded for 11 runs on 15 hits.
Sophomore
Kamryn Tillman led the way, going a perfect 4-of-4 with three runs scored and a double. Freshmen
Alyssa Lavine and
Breanna Robinson each registered three RBIs in the victory.
HU consistently put runs on the board, scoring in six out of the seven innings. NCAT had three errors in the contest, which Howard capitalized throughout.
Redshirt junior
Mackenzi Steele earned her first win of the season after tossing 4.2 innings while allowing only five hits.
NCAT (2-6) had three Aggies collect multi-hit games, led by Mohagony Headen going 2-of-3 with two RBIs and a double.
HU returns to the Tar Heel State for a pair of doubleheaders against North Carolina Central (Feb. 23) and Elon (Feb. 24). Friday's twinbill starts 2 p.m. while Saturday's showdown begins 1 p.m.
