ANNAPOLIS, Md. (January 27, 2018) – Howard University Men's Tennis team dropped its spring season opener at Navy, 7-0, in Annapolis, Md.
 
In doubles competition, junior 
Karim Shokeir and sophomore 
Sagar Raju paired up and served as HU's No. 1 doubles team but fell short against the Midshipmen's Zach Jennings and Gabriel Pilones, 6-4.
 
Navy took the other two doubles matches by identical scores, 6-3.
 
In singles play, Shokeir represented the Bison as its No. 1 player but dropped both sets versus Jennings (6-2, 6-1).
 
Navy won matches three through six in straight sets while Howard No. 2 player retired.
 
On Feb. 3-4, Howard (0-1) hosts Loyola (Md.) at The Washington Tennis & Education Foundation's East Capitol Campus (Jan. 3), before going to Frederick, Va. where they will face the Longwood Lancers in a neutral site match.
 
Both matches start at noon.
