Ron Davis and the Howard University Women's Bowling team began day one of the Kutztown Invitational hot until they met two Top 10 foes.
After edging out Medaille by two pins, 863-861, the Bison rolled a season-high and defeated conference rival Bethune-Cookman, 1,004-869.
Howard saw their streak come to an end after a 1,134-830 decision against McKendree.
Next up, the Bison squared off against No. 7 Stephen F. Austin where they lost, 1,027-883.
HU closed out the day with another Top 10 foe, No. 4 Vanderbilt. Howard could not keep up with Vandy as they were defeated, 1,022-865.
Tomorrow (Jan. 20), Howard returns for five traditional matches, beginning with No. 5 Sam Houston State. HU will also meet North Carolina A&T State, Youngstown State, Tulane, and Norfolk State.
