WASHINGTON (November 14, 2017) – Tuesday evening, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) unveiled its basketball weekly honors where Howard University's freshman
RJ Cole earn the conference's top rookie honor.
Cole had an impressive collegiate debut, averaging 25 points, 2.5 rebounds, seven assists and 1.5 rebounds in two games played. The 6-foot-1 freshman scored 23 points with six assists at George Washington Friday. Sunday, Cole netted 27 points and dished out eight assists at Indiana. He also has been impressive from the free throw line with an 85-percent (17-of-20) clip.
Other notable mention included freshman
Zion Cousins accounting for 19 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in games against George Washington and Indiana.
North Carolina A&T State's Femi Olujobi was selected Player of the Week while Preston Bungei of Norfolk State took home the league's top defender honors.
Tonight, Howard concludes its road swing at No. 17 Gonzaga. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. (ET).
