DOVER, Del. (October 29, 2017) – After dropping Friday's five set thriller, Coach
Shaun Kupferberg and the Howard University Women's Volleyball team bounced back by defeating the Delaware State (DSU) Hornets in straight sets (25-14, 25-12, 25-18) while sweeping the season series, 2-0.
Collectively, the Bison (11-14, 7-2 MEAC) produced a .340 hitting percentage while committing only eight errors in the match. Howard manufactured 42 kills and six service aces.
Seniors
Jessica Young and
Khaila Donaldson led the Bison attack. Young had a match-high 11 kills while Donaldson added eight kills. Both women combined for a .386 hitting percentage in the victory.
Junior
Tamia Dockery posted a match-best 32 assists, four digs, two blocks, and two kills. Defensively, freshman
Fola Wilson provided eight digs in the win.
For DSU, senior Gabriella Enriquez registered a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs. Fellow classmate Sabina Szmajduch had a team-high eight kills while Alliyah McBean recorded 11 digs in a losing effort.
HU concludes its road schedule with a couple of matches in Virginia.
Friday, Howard battles the Norfolk State Spartans at 6 p.m.
Sunday, the Bison square off against Hampton in the Battle of the Real HU. Match time slated for 3 p.m.
