WASHINGTON (October 15, 2017) – Howard University Volleyball team extended its winning streak after a big win over Bethune-Cookman (B-CU) in four sets (25-23, 18-25, 28-26, 25-21).
Senior
Khaila Donaldson and junior
Tamia Dockery spearheaded the Bison attack, each posting a double-double. Donaldson finished with 12 digs and 11 kills while Dockery provided 46 assists and 17 digs in the victory.
The first set was a seesaw affair in which fell in favor of HU late, 25-23.
In set two, the Wildcats eclipsed a .440 hitting percentage and tied the contest at one, 18-25.
After a 10-minute intermission, both squads hit over .300 in set three. Howard would escape and regain the match lead, 2-1.
In set four, B-CU was held under .100 while the Bison had a .219 mark. HU would hold off a late Wildcat charge to win the match, 3-1.
Senior
Jessica Young had a match-best 16 kills while sophomore
Kira Porter added 13 kills in the win.
For B-CU (8-10), Jordan Jefferson and Alondra Bautista each registered a double-double while Rechez Lindsay produced a match-high 20 digs in a losing effort.
Sunday, Howard takes on Coppin State in a rematch. First-serve at 3 p.m.
